Area consumers have reported receiving suspicious phone calls that appear to be coming from Meredith Village Savings Bank and other local financial institutions. The caller ID information displayed during these calls is “spoofed” to appear as though it originated from the bank and, if answered, the caller attempts to sell consumer protection related services, such as: travel insurance, interest rate reduction or identity theft protection.
These calls are fraudulent and are not being made by Meredith Village Savings Bank or any other local financial institution. Meredith Village Savings Bank employees do not place unsolicited calls offering such services or requesting financial payment information such as your account or debit card number.
Should you receive a phone call of this nature, please hang up and do not provide any information about you or your accounts.
