MVSB recently completed solar energy installations at its Portsmouth and Rochester branch offices as part of its continued commitment to sustainability. Work will soon begin on additional installations in Laconia and the Seneca Ladd Building in Meredith. The project is expected to reduce electricity costs over time while lowering the organization’s environmental impact.
The effort is part of a broader initiative by New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp (NHMB), the shared services organization that supports MVSB, to integrate renewable energy solutions across multiple properties throughout the state. Together, the project reflects a coordinated approach to managing long-term energy costs and advancing sustainability goals.
NHMB’s Sustainability Team, including Jason Hicks, Luke Galvin, Tamara Richardson, Jonathan Bibauld, Dan Osetek, and Alison Whynot, has guided the project. In partnership with ReVision Energy, a New England-based employee-owned company, the team evaluated each property and identified locations best suited for solar based on building conditions, sun exposure, and long-term financial return.
“This project is about more than energy savings. It reflects our commitment to making thoughtful, long-term investments that support the wellbeing of the communities we serve,” said Marcus Weeks, MVSB President. “By making responsible choices today, we are helping build a stronger, more sustainable future for our employees, our customers, and the places we call home.”
Collectively, the solar installations are projected to generate more than 119,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and reduce energy costs by approximately $18,000 per year. Each installation is expected to offset a significant portion of annual electricity usage, with savings recovering the initial investment in approximately six years. After that, the systems will continue generating clean energy and cost savings for more than 25 years.
