Online scams can arrive by email, text message, phone call, social media or a website that appears legitimate. Scammers often create a sense of urgency by claiming there is a problem with your
account, a missed payment or suspicious activity. Before clicking a link or sharing personal information, pause and verify the request independently. Visit the organization’s official website or mobile app directly, or call a trusted phone number rather than using contact information provided in an unexpected message.
Help protect your information by using strong, unique passwords and enabling multifactor authentication whenever it’s available. Keep your devices and software updated, and be cautious of unexpected links or attachments that ask for account details, passwords or security codes. Never send money by wire transfer, gift card, cryptocurrency or payment app because someone pressures you to “protect” your funds. Legitimate organizations will not rush you into moving money or sharing sensitive information.
MVSB is here to help if you receive a suspicious call, email or text, or believe you may have shared information with a scammer. We will not ask for your online banking password or secure access codes. Contact us directly at 800.922.6872, visit a local branch, or use the official MVSB mobile app or mvsb.com to access your accounts safely. If you notice suspicious activity, contact us promptly so we can help review your account and discuss next steps.
