As the last week approaches for the Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) nonprofit contest, locals are reminded to vote for the charitable organization that enriches Portsmouth most. Votes are being collected through end of day on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the bank’s Portsmouth office on 2839 Lafayette Road on Route 1, across from the Beach Plum restaurant. MVSB will present $1000 to the nonprofit receiving the most votes, and will award $100 cash prizes to five randomly selected ballot entrants. The Trail currently known as Hawkins Brook Trail will soon become the Samuel Laverack Nature Trail. Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) and Merrimack County Savings Bank (the Merrimack) recently contributed to the Meredith Village Pathways in honor of Sam Laverack, who retires as President and CEO of New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp (NHMB) on June 30, 2018. Gregg Tewksbury, President and CEO of Savings Bank of Walpole (SBW), has been selected to succeed Laverack as President and CEO of NHMB. Beginning May 11, 2018, new federal regulation under the Bank Secrecy Act will require all financial institutions to identify and verify the identity of the Beneficial Owners of certain business customers, subject to exclusions, each time a new account is opened. In order to comply, MVSB will collect this information from covered legal entities on a Beneficial Ownership Certification Form before an account is opened.
