On Tuesday, March 15th, our Telephone Banking service will be upgraded.  During this transition, we do not expect any interruption in telephone banking inquiry and transaction services.  The ability to change Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) will be unavailable between 4pm on Monday, March 14th and 10am on Tuesday, March 15th. We have received reports of rising incidents of iScam, a new form of Ransomware impacting Apple iPads and iPhones. With iScam, impacted devices are “held hostage” or “locked” until the ransom is paid. Victims of iScam receive a fraudulent pop-up message on their screen when they open the Safari browser on their device. The pop-up warns that the device has been locked by a third party and instructs the user to call a toll-free number to unlock the device.  Upon calling the number, the victim is asked to supply sensitive financial information including their credit or debit card number.  The […]

We have received recent reports of a rise in “Government Grant” scams on Facebook where consumers are being tricked into sending money to new or current friends of Facebook in order to collect a large government grant. The scam begins when a Facebook user receives a new friend request along with a message, or a message from a current friend whose Facebook account has been compromised. The message informs the user that they are entitled to free grant money from the government. Time Warner Cable (TWC) recently announced that up to 320,000 of their customer email addresses and passwords may have been compromised. TWC believes the information was likely gathered through malware downloaded during phishing attacks or indirectly through data breaches of other companies that store TWC’s customer information. As a precaution, Time Warner Cable email account users are being advised to change their email passwords as soon as possible.
