We are pleased to announce a $33,500 donation to the Granite United Way for its 2015 corporate giving campaign as well as an additional $33,500 in donations to local non-profit agencies selected by Bank employees. The donations are the result of the contributions from the Bank’s employees coupled with the Bank’s dollar-for-dollar match. $4000 and 2000 Cold-Weather Accessories Donated through Annual Mitten Tree Program
We are pleased to announce the results of this year’s Mitten Tree Program with contributions of $4,004 to local non-profit organizations. Thanks to the generous support of the community, 1,957 winter weather accessories, including hats, mittens and scarves, were also collected and distributed to local families in need. The Mitten Tree Program has been an MVSB community tradition for 35 years. In the weeks preceding Christmas, each of MVSB’s 11 offices accepted and proudly displayed donated handmade or purchased mittens, hats and scarves. On Monday, March 2, we will begin accepting full-color photography entries for our annual photo contest. Entries to the Calendar Contest will be considered for use in the Bank’s 2016 community wall calendar, desk calendar and also on MVSB’s holiday cards and note cards. Former MVSB President Clarence Howard “Larry” Thorne Passes Away
We are deeply saddened to share that Clarence Howard “Larry” Thorne, Former President and Chairman of the Board for Meredith Village Savings Bank, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 after a brief illness. He was 94. A compassionate and hands-on leader, Thorne served the Bank for 31 years. During his tenure, he guided the institution through many milestones, including the celebration of its 100th Anniversary, the opening of its third branch in Center Harbor, and the addition of many new technologies, such as ATM Cards and Machines. Local Photographer Jon Secord Donates Percentage of Sales to Genesis Behavioral Health; MVSB Matches Funds
Earlier this winter, local photographer Jon Secord committed to contribute 25% of his photography sales between the period of November 15 and December 15 to Genesis Behavioral Health (Genesis). During this time frame he was able to raise $500 for the organization through his photography sales. MVSB has exceeded their promise to match Secord’s donation, by adding an additional $1500 to bring the donation to $2000. MVSB Fund Grants $99,075 to Local Non-Profits
We are pleased to announce that the MVSB Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has awarded $99,075 to area nonprofits. The Charitable Fund contributions include 21 grants, totaling $85,075, to assist agencies with their individual needs. In addition, $14,000 will also be disbursed to area food pantries.
