We will continue our more than four-decade tradition of collecting donations of new mittens, hats, gloves and scarves for our annual Mitten Tree drive through New Year’s Eve. All donated items will be distributed to local schools and nonprofits. We will also match each item donation with $2 to local organizations addressing childhood food insufficiency. The 2024 MVSB annual complimentary community calendars are now available at the Bank’s branch offices while supplies last. The calendar features a dozen beautiful photos representing the Lakes Region, White Mountains and Seacoast areas. MVSB opens its annual community calendar photo contest to local amateur and professional photographers each spring and selects the winning calendar photos through a blind review process by MVSB employees. We are proud to announce that Devin Scott has recently completed the WorkReadyNH training program as required toward ultimately achieving his Bank Teller Registered Apprenticeship certification. Devin began shadowing as a teller apprentice in MVSB’s Laconia office in the summer, working closely with his mentor and co-workers to gain banking experience. “I previously came from a background in food management, so I started with very limited knowledge of the banking industry,” said Devin. “This program helped ease me into this new career path and taught me valuable skills such as interviewing, customer service and using computer programs. We are proud to have joined local community efforts to support the Ramblin’ Vewe Farm in its recently-completed 43-acre property purchase in Gilford. The land, which borders Ramblin’ View Farm, was previously owned by Dr. Leo and Polly Sanfaçon, who allowed the farm to create and maintain trails for community use. When the land was listed for sale, the Farm’s trustees approached the Town of Gilford Conservation Commission, who preliminarily agreed to share half of the sale price provided Ramblin’ View Farm could raise half.
