Sam Laverack, President and CEO of New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp (NHMB) is retiring on June 30, 2018, after 42 years with the organization. Gregg Tewksbury, President and CEO of Savings Bank of Walpole (SBW), has been selected to succeed Laverack as President and CEO of NHMB. Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) is asking Portsmouth locals to vote for the nonprofit that enriches the city the most. Votes are being collected at the bank’s Portsmouth office on 2839 Lafayette Road on Route 1, across from the Beach Plum restaurant. MVSB will present $1000 to the nonprofit that receives the most votes, and will award $100 cash prizes to five randomly selected ballot entrants. Beginning May 11, 2018, new federal regulation under the Bank Secrecy Act will require all financial institutions to identify and verify the identity of the Beneficial Owners of certain business customers, subject to exclusions, each time a new account is opened. In order to comply, MVSB will collect this information from covered legal entities on a Beneficial Ownership Certification Form before an account is opened. We would like to thank law enforcement for the incredible job they’ve done evaluating the details of today’s suspicious incident at the Main Office of our sister Bank, Merrimack County Savings Bank. Though our employees are well-trained on how to respond to unusual and possibly threatening events, it was reassuring to see how quickly and thoroughly law enforcement acted during the investigation. The Meredith Village Savings Bank Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation granted $3,000 to the Aviation and Aerospace Educational Center at Winnipesaukee (WinnAero) of Gilford, NH, for its 2018 Aerospace Career Education (ACE) Academies. The contribution will support a scholarship for field trips and aerospace education for local-area students in high school, middle school and elementary school from Belmont, Franklin, Gilford, Laconia, Meredith and Tilton.
