We received reports of active card skimming at convenience store ATMs across the country, including several locations in Massachusetts. Skimming is the use of a device to illegally collect magnetic stripe information from credit, debit and ATM cards. The information collected is used by identity thieves to create counterfeit cards, which can be used to make fraudulent purchases or withdrawals. MVSB Supports Laconia Area Community Land Trust with Tax Credit Purchase
MVSB has provided critical support to the Laconia Area Community Land Trust’s (LACLT) tax credit campaign to upgrade its properties by purchasing $50,000 in tax credits from the nonprofit. New Hampshire’s Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) awarded LACLT $500,000 in tax credits to sell to businesses. With colder weather moving in and the holidays fast approaching, MVSB is continuing a tradition since 1979 of collecting donations from the community of mittens, hats and scarves to distribute to local residents through its annual Mitten Tree program. Beginning the day after Thanksgiving and continuing through December 19th, donations of handmade or purchased mittens, gloves, hats and scarves by area residents and customers can be dropped off at the nearest MVSB office.
