We are  pleased to announce that the MVSB Fund  has awarded a $10,000 grant to Laconia Ice Arena’s “Think Rink for Kids” Capital campaign.  With this donation, the Arena is now two-thirds of the way to achieving its fundraising goal of $267,000. “We are so thankful for this donation and all the support that has been coming through from our community,” said Will Fay, Manager of the Arena. “We have been overwhelmed by the support of citizens and community-oriented businesses, like Meredith Village Savings Bank, in helping sustain this recreational resource.” The Laconia Ice Arena is entering its “second generation,” during which significant […]

On Monday, March 3, we will begin accepting full-color photography entries for our annual photo contest. The Bank is beginning the contest a little earlier than usual to allow for more opportunities to use and display the winning photos. Entries to the Calendar Contest will be considered for use in the Bank’s 2015 community wall calendar, desk calendar and also on MVSB’s holiday cards and note cards. With financing provided by MVSB, Co-Owners Renee Bickford, James Bickford and Executive Chef Eric Weiss were able to purchase and renovate a site for their new restaurant, Woodlands Tavern on Mount Major Highway in Alton. The Co-Owners worked with MVSB’s Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer, Gracie Cilley, to purchase the former site of the William Tell Inn in Alton last year. The 19th century building has a long history as an inn, resort and restaurant. The MVSB Charitable Fund has awarded $99,992 in grants to area nonprofits. The 2013 Charitable Fund contributions include 13 grants to assist agencies with their individual needs.  An additional $28,425 will be disbursed to area food pantries later this year. We are pleased to announce the results of this year’s Mitten Tree Program with contributions of $3,240 to local non-profit organizations. Thanks to the generous support of the community, 1,620 winter weather accessories – including hats, mittens and scarves – were also collected and distributed to local families in need.  The Mitten Tree Program has been an MVSB community tradition for many years.  In the weeks before Christmas, each of MVSB’s 11 offices accepts and proudly displays donated handmade or purchased mittens, hats and scarves. As you may have heard on the news last week, Target Stores suffered a significant card data breach beginning the week of Thanksgiving that affected nearly 40 million credit and debit cardholders.  The unauthorized access is most likely to have impacted shoppers who made credit or debit card purchases in U.S. Target stores between November 27 and December 15, 2013.  Information exposed as a result of this breach includes:  customer name, credit or debit card number, and the card’s expiration date and CVV (the three-digit security code) – sufficient information for fraudsters to make unauthorized purchases or create counterfeit cards. The Fund  is pleased to announce a $2,500 grant to the Inter-Lakes Day Care Center and Nursery School.
