Small Business Administration Offering COVID EIDL Loans for Small Businesses
The SBA (Small Business Administration) has announced the COVID EIDL (COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster) Program loan, a low-interest, fixed-rate, long-term loan, intended to help eligible small business applicants overcome any negative financial effects brought on by the pandemic. The COVID EIDL Program loan, developed and managed entirely by the SBA, provides working capital to eligible small businesses for operating expenses. Amazon Refund Scam Resurfaces
Community members are reporting a recent increase in fraudulent calls regarding Amazon refunds. Victims of the scam have indicated that an “Amazon representative” contacted them by telephone to issue a refund that they were not expecting. In some instances the representative states the refund is a result of fraud on their Amazon account and other times the customer is told they were overcharged for a previous purchase. However, following our review of the SBA direct forgiveness program we have determined the platform and process we are currently using is less complex than the direct forgiveness program and so we will not be using the direct SBA option. Micro Grants Available Now – Community Development Block Grant – CARES Direct Grant Program
Grafton Regional Development Corporation (GRDC) and three partner regional economic development corporations (Belknap EDC, Coos Economic Development Corporation and Wentworth Economic Development Corporation) have received more than $200,000 in CARES Act grant funding for small businesses that have been negatively impacted by the COVID pandemic. MVSB Supports Monarch School of New England’s Horticultural Therapy and Gardening Program
We are proud to support Monarch School of New England (MSNE) in Rochester with a $5,000 donation to the school’s Horticultural Therapy and Gardening Program. The donation will be used to provide plants, seeds, compost bins, tools, and other supplies for the gardens. In their nurturing environment, MSNE uses expertise in creative and occupational therapies, including work, art and activity-based learning to educate children with varying levels of intellectual, physical, medical and behavioral disabilities. The Community School Summer Camp Receives Support from MVSB
We are proud to support the Community School in Tamworth with a donation of $5,000 to be used for their 2021 summer camp program. The program, which also receives grant money from the Tamworth Foundation, is free to Tamworth residents. Children from surroundings towns, including Albany, Madison, Moultonborough, Ossipee and Sandwich can also enroll at a cost. MVSB’s donation will help offset that cost for local campers.
