We have joined forces with the American Banker’s Association’s (ABA) Education Foundation to celebrate Teach Children to Save Day on Tuesday, April 23. We invite parents to bring their children into their local MVSB office at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23 for a reading of Pick Pigs™ – a story about saving, sharing and spending. Fund Awards $1,500 Grant to Kidworks Learning Center
The MVSB Fund is pleased to announce a $1,500 grant to Kidworks Learning Center of Meredith. This donation will be used to make energy efficiency improvements at the Kidworks facility. “In a recent energy audit, areas of inadequate insulation were identified as contributing to heat loss in our childcare center,” said Jennifer Weeks, Executive Director for Kidworks Learning Center. “With this generous grant from the MVSB Fund, we will be able to address these insulation issues and purchase programmable thermostats to aid in fuel conservation. Making Home Affordable Program Deadline Extended To December 31, 2013
The deadline for the Making Home Affordable (MHA) Program, developed as part of the US government’s plan to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure, was recently extended through December 31, 2013. The Program has evolved since its creation and now includes several modification, refinance and foreclosure options for both homeowners that are at risk of foreclosure and homeowners that are able to make their payments, but who have not been able to refinance due to the sharp decrease in property values. On Monday, March 4th nearly 200 MVSB employees and board members gathered for the Bank’s 25th Annual Employee Recognition Dinner held at Church Landing at Mill Falls in Meredith. MVSB Donates $4,000 to New Hampshire Humane Society
MVSB is pleased to announce a $4,140 donation to New Hampshire Humane Society of Laconia. As part of MVSB’s commitment to assisting non-profit agencies in the communities it serves, the Bank agreed to match all 2013 employee contributions to the Lakes Region United Way. Warning: Online Banking Targeted By Sophisticated Malware Attacks
Microsoft has provided details surrounding evolving malware targeting online banking access. The malware is being downloaded by consumers via infected links accessed through web surfing or fraudulent emails. Once deployed, the malware waits for a user to attempt to access a financial site and redirects them to a fraudulent page. The goal of the attack is to capture online banking log in credentials (username and password) as they are being typed in by the user.
